Tithing is NOT Biblical

The Lie Of Tithing Those who teach that Christians must pay tithes refer to this verse In Matthew 23 : 23 as proof that Yeshua (Jesus) established the continuance of the Mosaic Law of Tithing for His Church. These TITHE-TEACHERS are misled as the facts  in this article will establish  continue reading

The Unbiblical Christian Tithe The purpose of this hub is to demonstrate from scripture that the current received wisdom on the subject of tithing taught in many sections of the Church is in error. At best, these sections have a complete misunderstanding of the whole subject of the tithe, and at worst, the tithe doctrine is used as a method for extracting money from its members.... continue reading

Pastors Who Collects Tithes Are What ? Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for keeping part instead of the whole law. (Matthew 23:23). That is what tithe-collecting pastors do today.  If we insist that our congregation must pay tithes, we must also insist that they keep the rest of the law.  James says: “Whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10).  Therefore, if we insist on tithing, we should also refrain from eating pork.  We should stone adulterers, execute homosexuals, kill Sabbath violators and restore blood-sacrifices.continue reading

Tithing : The Lie That Most Christians Believe  The lie that is more dangerous than evolution and the Da Vinci Code is the spell of the tithe. Why is it more dangerous ? Because it holds the church spell bound. The lie of the tithe remains a stronghold of Satan in many churches today. The seduction is in the promise: “God wants you to have the best things in life” (as Satan said to Adam in the garden). And so we hear, “Unless you give me your money, God will not hear your prayers,” or “God will not get involved with your life unless you tithe. continue reading

The Origin Of Tithing : Come, Let Us Reason Ministries  In the first part of this article on tithing it was established that Israel’s tithe was over 22%, and the people were to take care of the Levites. The Levites then tithed by bringing the 10% into the storehouse. This is the BIBLICAL Tithe. What we need to do is go back in history to see when the tithe was first established and required from the people, then we can determine if it is a practice for the Church today.continue reading

Tithing : Highway Robbery Of The 20th Century The Church conception of the tithe is totally unbiblical.  Just how much do people or their ministers know about God’s teachings on tithing? Let us look at what the Lord says about tithes. It was the ministers - the Levitic priests, that God blamed for defrauding Him, not the tithe payers themselves... continue reading

Wake up folks, tithing is a lie : Every time I heard a minister preach on the tithe, I felt sick - best described as a nauseous feeling in the pit of my gut. For years I assumed that feeling was guilt welling up in me, caused by the conviction of the Holy Spirit. I can't count the number of times I responded to that nauseous feeling by swallowing hard and giving all the money I had with me - sometimes beyond what I had - whereupon I borrowed from my line of credit account. Years of hearing messages on the tithe, where ministers had enslaved my compliance by sowing guilt and shame had convinced me that God was the type of Father who whips, prods, guilts and shames His children into obedience - until my eyes was open to see that Tithing was for the Jews, in the form of agricultural produce, and never meant for the new covenant church. Wake up people !  Read more at Lighthouse Prophecy

The tithe is Abolished. When you walk into a church today, a collection plate gets passed around that places a burden upon you to give money before hearing what the preacher has to say.  Churches have even told its congregation that it is a sin if you do not give them money (tithe). What you hear from modern pulpits is nothing more than what's called a sophist, which means "one who preaches ethics for payment."  The truth is, the tithe was for only the Jews, and even they do not practice it now since the temple was destroyed by the Romans in AD 70 continue reading

Every single Pastor should watch this video !!! There is NO theological leg for you to stand on the issue of 10% tithing of your monthly salary - Not a single shred of evidence !

The word eisegesis is a theological term used to describe an approach to interpreting a passage in the Bible by "reading into" the passage a meaning that is not evident at all by the passage itself, or the context in which it appears in the Bible. Thus eisegesis is usually perceived as a negative term, and indicates that the person using the method of eisegesis is coming to the passage with a pre-conceived notion on a particular doctrinal matter, wishing to force the passage to fit a preconceived notion.

Tithing in the old covenant was ALWAYS in the form of FOOD & NEVER in the form of money. Tithes could not come from non-food items, Gentiles, or from outside Israel.

Abraham's 'tithe' was NOT from his earnings, but from SPOILS OF WAR, and was a one off incident. There is NO mention that Abraham gave a tenth of all that he owned, every month to an earthly representative of Yahweh God.

Jacob made a condition to God : IF you will do this for me , THEN I will give thee a tenth of what I own. It was CONDITIONAL, and Malachi ? It was a REBUKE to the Levitical priests who had robbed God,and even then, it was about FOOD : .....that there may be MEAT in my STOREHOUSE "

There is not a single sentence from ALL the  writers in the New Covenant instructing us to tithe because the writers were all Jews and they knew that the tithe ( in the form of food ) was only for the Jews. There is also much evidence here to prove this point in the form of articles, videos and books written by  people from all walks of life & diverse backgrounds, but especially from Russel Earl Kelly who addresses the points raised by Joseph Prince at this link : Rebuttal of Joseph Prince ( on Tithing ) by Russel Kelly, PHD

Should The Church Teach Tithing
A Theologian's Conclusions about a Taboo Doctrine

This 288 page book began as a PhD dissertation. It is an easy-to-read reference commentary which also contains many Greek and Hebrew word studies and an extensive bibliography. Every tithing text is covered, plus every possible extension of it in the New Testament.

The author demonstrates how the Church must replace this last taboo remnant of the Old Covenant Law and enter fully into much better New Covenant provisions for accomplishing God's work. No stone is left turned. A thorough historical survey of the first 300 years of church history and verse by verse studies of key chapters add compelling evidence. Read here

Why Christians Should Not Tithe

The premise is simple: God, having freed his people from the Law through faith in Jesus Christ, does not place on them a burden from the Law. The thesis is equally as simple: Christian giving is not a tithe. Christ challenges the believer to give himself and his possessions to the gospel cause, but the tithe fixes a limit and implies nothing more is needed.

This book is a thorough discussion of the four tithes in Moses' Law,  Jesus' comments on tithing, and the twenty-one principles of giving developed by the apostles in Acts and the epistles. Included is a brief review of the history of tithing from post-apostolic times to the present. The book concludes with a new paradigm for giving not based on the tithe, but on the apostles' doctrine of Christian giving. Should Christians tithe to support the gospel? Here is a study that will help every Christian discover the biblical answer for him or her self.
by Deacon Franklin Cunningham
You Don't Have To Pay To Give

Are you fearful that the Lord will take away blessings from you and your family if you don't tithe 10 percent?

You no longer need to fear. Through his comprehensive research, Deacon Franklin L. Cunningham will show you that what many modern church pastors teach about tithing is unbiblical.

Are you surprised? Don't be. Cunningham's study will set you free to seek the God of love, mercy, and blessings, no matter what amount of money you give. This book is a must read for anyone serious about learning the principles of giving.

Tithing: Low-Realm, Obsolete & Defunct

This book is an in-depth analysis of tithing from the perspective of the New Covenant. It evaluates the scriptural references to tithing in their context: before the Law, during the Law, and after the Law. It exposes the faulty theology of tithing and explains why it hinders the body of Christ from entering the fullness of God’s provision and purpose. It also describes God’s plan for Spirit-led giving today.

This book goes far beyond the discussion of tithing and financial giving. Most importantly it lays the foundation for understanding the New Covenant paradigm of life in Christ as a son of God.

  1. One can justify most anything they want to believe. They can even back it up with scripture. Where would we be without tithes. Would we be depending on the government even more for what churches provide through tithes. Would organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse or Operation Blessings be able to provide humanitarian needs to distraught people during a crisis?
If you’ll read and digest scripture in the way that you will get what God wants you to get out of it rather than what you want to get out of it, it will change your heart.
Many religions have been founded on some of the shortest scripture. Truth is God wants a relationship rather than a religion.
If you sincerely believe in God then you’ll realize that everything you possess belongs to him. When you first came to Christ and prayed the sinners prayer you agreed to surrender “all”. Not everything except but all.
You have spent a great deal of time justifying what you can do and very little time on what you should do.
Do you own your things or do your things own you. If you cannot give of it freely and be joyous about it then your things own you and that’s breaking the first commandment. Worshiping something rather than working with something.
In conclusion, prosperity is not measured with zeroes behind your numbers, but with joy in any number.

    1. I'm so sorry for the late reply, but here's the thing. The apostle Paul NEVER preached or collected tithes, & yet he was the most successful missionary ever. ( he was a tentmaker, earning his keep by making & selling tents, and he did collect monies for the sake of ministry, but this were NEVER in the form of tithes. He encouraged Believers to give WILLINGLY & GENEROUSLY for the advancement of the Gospel )

  2. where would we be? great question.. im glad you ask

I didnt see where anywhere in here or in the word of God it said dont give generously. In fact the contrary. I think this is addressing the abuse levied on the current church at the hands of false preachers, pastors or priest and the claim that the magic number of 10% is biblical commandment. Ministry isnt a job. Its a divine calling. Treat it as such. Where would we be? Well if we had actually followed the word and been better stewards of our money we should have been able to help someone with that 3,706,867 (assuming i did my quick math right) paid to compensate the board of that "charity" for doing "charitable works."

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
